Question Command Line access

I'm a newby with Puppy 4.2.1 which loads into memory.

I cannot find how to initiate a command line window.

I want to use mkdiskimage to format a flash drive as a zip drive. I'll then load all puppy files to the flask drive

I can copy a folder to the Puppy desktop containing both mkdiskimage and mkdiskimage.in

How do I get to a command line window to run mkdiskimage ?

Which of the two files should I attempt to run ?

What window manager are you using? I see Puppy uses JVM, but I've never used this one.
If you right-click anywhere on your screen, do you get a menu? The link to open a console must be there.
In all cases, you can use Ctrl+Alt+F1 to go to the console (Ctrl+Alt+F7 gets you back to X).

The command is
Quote:
mkdiskimage
. Maybe you'll find useful the instructions in this page.

If your using the default version of Puppy 4.2.1, it should have a console icon right on the desktop. If it doesn't look for either console or terminal in the menus. I've used this version of puppy a lot and I know the default version has a terminal option available. If your using a modified version, they may have hidden or removed it.

If necessary, you can type CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE to kill the graphic interface to get a console, then type xwin to restart. Or type CTRL-ALT-F1 to get a terminal, then CTRL-ALT-F5 to get the GUI again. (I believe on this version of puppy, the GUI is CTRL-ALT-F5, could be F4, F6, or F7, just hold CTRL-ALT down and cycle through the F keys.)
