ClamAV in Puppy Linux: Can't find program, yet all dependencies satisfied
I have a Puppy LiveCd that I want to use to virus-scan an old WinXP laptop. I've tried installing Comodo and ClamAV after converting their deb versions using deb2pet, but I can't find anything in /usr or /usr/lib. pfind only shows the deb package and the converted pet package.
The function of the puppy package manager that checks dependencies (whatever its name is) reports no errors, yet when I manually checked the dependencies for ClamAV, tar was not present. I found tar-1.26 in the puppy archives and installed it, but no change.
Personally, I wouldn't give ClamAV the time of day. Too many 'false positives', for one thing...
I've been using Comodo's AV for Linux for some time now. It runs from a GUI, and also gives you the facility for email filtering.
I've made up an SFS package from the .deb package, with permissions adjusted to suit Puppy's 'running-as-root' model. If you install the .deb package, it will break functionality in certain things, such as CUPS, since Ubuntu's package assumes running as a normal user in a multi-user environment, and sets permissions accordingly.
I don't know if we're allowed to post links to file-hosting sites, but that's where all my hundreds of Puppy packages are.....at my MediaFire a/c.
(Note to moderators; I don't know if you're aware, but the majority of really useful Puppy packages tend to be hosted at Puppy Forum members' file-hosting accounts. Puppy being a 'do-ocracy, and 'Puppians' being positively encouraged to contribute where they can, many of us provide Puppy-specific packages for other Puppians.....and, of course, you need somewhere to host them.)

Say, Mike, do you still have that sfs? It's no longer at the given link. I occassionally want to scan a file for my Linux-challenged friends....
Thanks!

@ Subito Piano:-
Hallo, mate.
Nah, it should still be there. Mind you, I've found out, just this last few minutes, that summat odd was also going on with my LastPass a/c with which I log-in to MediaFire, along with scores of other sites. I only visited Media fire a few days ago.....yet it was giving the impression that my a/c had been closed down (which isn't the case at all).
Be that as it may, I've been steadily transferring stuff to my Google Drive for quite some time now. You can find the COMODO packages here:-
Even if you're using a 64-bit Pup, I still recommend the 32-bit .pet. There's something fundamentally broken in the 64-bit package; despite adjusting permissions, etc, and trying all sorts of tricks'n'stuff, I could never get the 64-bit package to update its databases. If you can't do that, it's pretty useless.
Just make sure you've loaded the 32-bit_compat_libs SFS, followed by running
Code:
ldconfig
...in the terminal, before you install it. The 32-bit .pet runs fine in a 64-bit Pup, if you do the preceding stuff first. Hope that helps.
Edit:- No, I've just been checking some dates; I know what happened. About a fortnight after I posted the above link, I re-uploaded a modified version of the package.....and didn't update the link on here. This is the 'new' link:-
