A different file manager

Although I think Puppy is great, I don't much like ROX. I don't mind a simple file manager like Gentoo or Worker. Downloaded Gentoo, but I was missing dependencies (I think).

Anyone agree or got any opinions ?

I would like to remaster the CD with a "better" file manager.

Well, pick one you like... there's any amount of choice.

Three possible choices:

- Thunar
- PCManFM
- Xfe

Puppy 2.15 Community Edition has other file managers - the one I mostly use has a double-pane display and I'm sure there's a third as well (which I haven't used). (Sorry, I don't have it open at the moment to tell you what they are.)

when working on basic things that you almost will always use when you are in linux ... its better to compile them(if possible , if you can and if neccessary ... firefox and gnome/kde is not neccessary , for example) from source ...

rox is the next best fully graphical filemanager and its kind of like very linux "specific" , which is good in my opinion ...

[edit ::] sorry , i didnt know this is in puppy forrums ... so , judge yourself anyway ...

I agree in that I also don't much like ROX, after using Mac OS Finder for for many years I prefer a multi-pane view (more than 2 - not mc or similar). Spent some time looking for a replacement file manager this afternoon with no success.

Does anyone have any other suggestions/opinions...

Arty

EDIT Update: Thanks Acron... Xfe and PC Man are nice... but I'm looking for multi-column file managers (not exactly multi-pane or tabbed)
