Xft Documentation

Hi,

I've been playing around with some xlib programming in c++. One thing I've found rather terrible to work with has been font rendering. I've done a bit of research and it is my understanding that Fontconfig is now a standard for managing fonts on a Xserver, and for exposing these fonts to the client programs, also it seems that Xft is a standard library to use for font rendering that supports the use of Fontconfig.

My problem is I can't seem to find any documentation for using the Xft library directly in my software for rendering fonts. Any suggestions or links of where I can go to find this information? Or if I'm completely mixed up can somebody put me straight

Thanks!
