Writing a alsa driver

I am writing a alsa driver.
if i am correct, " SNRV_PCM_TRIGGER_START " signifies the start for
audio playback.

my question is which field is having the actual audio data to be played in " struct snd_pcm_substream *substream ", and which function is called to send the audio data to sound card for playing, how the audio player is acknowledged for sending the data from the kernel driver.
