Write to Remote process

Hi,
I am using process_vm_readv to read from a remote process :this always works
process_vm_writev at the same memory location (for the same remote PID) always fails stating that it is bad memory (error:14)

I mean I can get the job done using ptrace but just want to know why it would fail with process_vm_writev
