write an update query in shell prompt to update the database in sqlserver


mysql -e 'UPDATE JALALARM SET utime = '2004-09-27 18:00:00' where sdate < '2004-03-15 18:00:00' ' -u root -pmysql tgc..
does not execute

you have a '<' in there. thats a special shell character, it means redirect standard input. you need to escape it like this: '\<'
