zikhermm 08-04-2001 02:42 PM

sorry, stupid poll

zikhermm 08-04-2001 03:28 PM

I mean, Which is your favorite language?

Colonel Panic 08-04-2001 07:53 PM

Why do you think PERL is a good language? Never used it before, but I'm going to take a class on it this year.

I did not see Java on your poll and i am truly heart-broken. Anyways, my fav. is java and C++ because they are close to each other. I learned java first and learning C++ was not hard at all. And why is not php there?

sykkn 08-10-2001 02:56 AM

I know Perl and I have been looking at PHP. Perl was my first
language and has been an overall good learning experience.
PHP has been very easy to catch on to, and I especially like the
simple database connectivity.

Perl : almost 1 year
PHP : 1 & 1/2 months

Lots...

C,C++,Fortran, Pascal, Algol, Java, DCL, Lisp, Scheme, R, Perl, Ruby...

Enough yet?

Well, the answer is Ruby. Go and learn Ruby now.

zikhermm 09-14-2001 05:34 PM

I know Scheme, and I was wondering if there was any real use for it? I know it's a Lisp-derivative, but I've never seen anything written in it.

Assembler Assembler!!!!

I don't think anyone else programs that anymore.. :(

acid_kewpie 09-15-2001 05:36 AM

What's wrong with assembly? try programming a 68008 processor board with perl.. it ain't gonna happen. Assembly rocks.

Isn't also REALLY hard and complex? I'd be up for it, if I had more time on my hands. Since I like programming so much, and all, I think it's fun when I learn Assembly! And trust me, I WILL learn it!

The difference between PERL and Assembly...

You can't program many things with PERL, and you can program EVERYTHING with Assembly! Heh, what a difference!
