You could get away with "Fracked Up Beyond All Recognition" or "Frelled Up Beyond All Recognition". When fubar became foo() bar(), I don't know. I believe that the original was a Navy acronym.

Cool Foo, bar, xyzzy and other words

I remember at least two games that contained "Foo, you are nothing but a charlatan." One was ADVENT,
a text based game involving exploration of Colossal Cave with two distinct but connected mazes.

The other, whose name I cannot remember, involved displaying the player's position in the game with
text graphics a la
I I
I I
I x I---
I
and so on. I played ADVENT on Pr1me minicomputers, DEC VAX-11 and maybe PDP-ll/x4 and other places
the other game may have been on PDP-11/xx only. I forget, it's only been about 39 years.

One or another of the ZORK games may also contained the "Foo ... " declaration.

Aw FOO! Another long dormant thread resurrected...

Welcome to LQ Jay_Omega_T!

We look forward to your participation! But let's let this one go back to sleep...

Hi astrogeek, Moderator

Thanks for your reminder.

I'm aware that I have been away from this forum for sometimes. What causes me stop posting here is that I have received replies from some other members as follow
Code:
You have been a member here for long time. You should know where to find your answer. You're too lazy .....
I suppose there are some other members experiencing similar treatment.

Please check the forum postings, several members here are active doing this incorrect practice. Their intentions are to kill this forum "linuxquestions"

If they don't have replies just keeping silence rather than to encourage other members stop posting here.

Thanks

Regards
satimis

This is unrelated to the thread, satimis. If you have a genuine issue about these types of replies from other posters, can I suggest that you start a new thread on this topic in the Suggestions & Feedback subforum.

The foo [bar, baz] connection to the old US military slang term "FUBAR" is disputed. I remember reading that they may have originated in MIT and was probably derived from comic books which predated the second world war.

//edit: In fact refer to the links to ESR's writings in post no. 3.

The Site FAQ and LQ Rules ultimately determine correct and incorrect behavior. If you feel that another member has not behaved properly then please use the Report button on the offending post to report that post or user for moderation.

Making general accusations about the intentions of other members is itself not acceptable behavior, and this is not the place. Please use the LQ Suggestions and Feedback forum for comments about how to improve the LQ experience for all users.
