Smile Want to know the logic behind send() & recv() call

I was just learning about the socket programming and came across send and recv() call which is been performing the same task of read and write() except few functionality. So i was eager to know abt "how the contents of the buffer have been written to the network" and "how it is retrieved from the network and written to the buffer".

Thanks in Advance,
Chansanle

You mean you are interested in technical details of networking?
For start:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethernet
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Protocol
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transmi...ntrol_Protocol

Pick one:
1. You want to write kernel-code to implement send(2) and recv(2).
2. You want to use send(2) and recv(2) in your program.

You knowledge is insufficient yet for that. For a start, read the books of Andrew S. Tanenbaum.
