unixODBC: myodbc: UTF-8 problems

I wrote a bunch of programs that use unixODBC, with libmyodbc, to modify and search a MySQL database. (Long and boring story...) Then I realized all my UTF-8 extended characters were getting screw up. Through process of elimination, it would seem that this is happening at the level of ODBC or the myodbc driver.

Does anyone know what I need to add to my .odbc.ini file so that ODBC will play nice with the UTF-8?
