trying to redirect text to a file to cat at later point. says file doesn't exist.

ok here is what i am trying to do.

Code:
echo "If you have a working X config file for a different driver (such as the "nv"
or "vesa" driver), then simply edit the file as follows.

Remove the line:

      Driver "nv"
  (or Driver "vesa")
  (or Driver "fbdev")

and replace it with the line:

    Driver "nvidia"

Remove the following lines:

    Load "dri"
    Load "GLCore"

In the "Module" section of the file, add the line (if it does not already
exist):

    Load "glx"" > xorgconfigchange
when i do so i get this:
bash: xorgconfigchange: No such file or directory. I thought redirection would create the file if it didn't exist. So why am i getting that error? Those are instructions from a site that i may need to reference which i need to do while X is killed so i wanted to echo them to a file so i could cat it while in text mode to reference. thanks for any replies in advance.

ok. sorry for posting i just figure it out as i posted. It was because i was in /etc/ so i didn't have write permission, therefore the file was not getting created. Silly mistake.
