Torrent File Parsing with PHP

Hey all,

I'm interested in making a small torrent site. How does one go about creating torrent files, and then parsing information out of them? Is it possible to upload a file to a server, and have PHP create a torrent for the file, or upload a torrent file and have PHP parse the information in human readable text?

Thanks for any tips in the right direction.

Hi wh33t,

Although I'm not able to directly answer your questions I can point you to a source that I used last year when building a tracker website.

http://phpbttrkplus.sourceforge.net/

This is an open source PHP based tracker that you can download and look at their code. I recall it being fairly simple so give it a try. It is a fully functional tracker running off the standard Linux LAMP.

Best of luck :)

Thanks dude.

Does that php tracker just parse out torrent file information? Or is it a whole tracker system, like Btjunkie, thepiratebay etc?
