Tilde as exception in zsh

Hi. How do you use tilda as exception in zsh? For example
Code:
ls -l *~*.avi
should show all files except those with ".avi" at the end, right?
But I get
Code:
zsh: no matches found: *~*.avi

It works for me:
Code:
% touch foo.avi bar.avi foo.txt bar.txt
% ls *~*.avi
bar.txt foo.txt
Do you have EXTENDED_GLOB set?
