Hi!
I'm planning to get back into game programming, but I want to start with something simple and 2D. Like a tetris or breakout and eventually into a 2D platform. I don't want to use OpenGL for that so... I was wondering, what else can I use? Not exactly the language, but the API. I was looking into QT's homepage and they have a tutorial that goes up to making a game... That was cool and relatively easy...
Any suggestions about how to start writing a simple game as I said above?. So far, pygame and SDL looks like the best toys for the job, but I want to hear from you. Basically, I'm looking for something simple, easy to use and portable. I can C/C++, Java and python for that matter (and Visual Basic, but that is not what I'm looking for...ghehe).
Please Note: I know DirectX relatively well. Not very well OpenGL though. But I want easy 2D and portability
.
Thanks in advance for any suggestion
