Some good books for Linux programming. Suggestion ?
- I've just started learn Linux programming for months. I currently read the book Apress.Foundations.of.GTK.plus.Development for GUI. And I would like to know some good books for Linux programming and of-course for beginning level :D ! Thanks in advance !
- And I really want to work on Linux so what should I need to learn to be come a real Linux pros. - I've been programming on C++ ( a little C ) for about 2 years( just the basic console stuffs ) and I currently study GUI programming and couple other things : makefile and some shell-scripting. |
I don't know about books, but here is a useful tutorial.

the best book I have seen on the environment in which a linux program runs is
Beginning Linux programming (in my case, 3rd edition, but I'm sure there's a fourth and maybe a fifth by now) Matthew/Stones, Wrox. Having said that, while its a thick book, its really just the first few chapters that are 'stand-out'; the environment and shell scripting. If you want to program in some specific high level language, you'd certainly get a book on that language. Have a look, because what suits me won't necessarily suit you. |
