simple encyption code with password for movie files (large files)

I am trying to write a simple codes to encrypt video file, which is obviously very large. I download couple of codes from the Internet, but it seems to take a long time to encrypt each file.
I just want to put a password to files in my harddisk including video files.

Is there a good and simple algorithm that design to work on a large file?

You can use any of the standard symmetric key algorithms, e.g.
Code:
openssl enc -aes-256-cbc -a -salt -in input.file -out output.file
Instead of aes-256-cbc, you can choose from any of the algorithms listed in the output of
Code:
openssl list-cipher-commands
