Running/making Linux App in Windoze

I want to use "TEMPEST FOR ELIZA" @
http://www.erikyyy.de/tempest/
under windoze.

its got a tar.gz to config and make the app.

How do i make it to work under windows??

or maybe cygwin.

Please dont suggest Linux. In the past two weeks i've tried 8 distro's and when i was finnely happy ith one .. it simply refused to start booting one fine day.

It's source, so you can probably compile it under Cygwin. It says it needs SDL and X and stuff so make sure you have those installed.

Cygwin is your best bet. The installation comes with all SDL and X libraries/headers as well as GCC. After compilation, you will get a .exe executable, which will need cygwin1.dll somewhere in your system path.

I dont see how you will be able to get that to work on windows.. looks tied to X.. ? maybe not though..

I have been using linux for 7 years and still sometimes it seems like it only works when it wants too :)
Dont give up that easily...
and btw.. when i have a problem .. i usually discover that it is a problem between the chair and keyboard..

This free help thing only works if you actually post an error message instead of ":WAH:"... or whatever.

well not to say anyone is wrong or not wrong here.. :)

but maybe a little more descriptive message than "giving problems"

a copy and past of the error, with a description of how you got it works wonders for getting help..

cyberoidx 01-20-2006 10:09 PM

The SDL copy i managed to get was fried..

Topic Closed.
