rs232 to USB adapter


hi all...

i need source code for rs 232 to USb converter or else some provisions
which will help to develop the converter..i am new to the driver world..
can any one help me about this...

They sell these at CDW, Newegg, and lots of other places. Never needed a driver, just plug it in, and the /dev/ttyxxx port will pop up.

The “drivers” are by chipset and will are included in the vanilla kernel, so you can get the sources from there. For example, here is the driver source for the popular FTDI chipset.

As TB0ne mentioned, if all you need is for the device to work as a serial port, and are not interested in the internals, you will normally just plug it in and udev will take care of the rest.
