representing data in computer

Just for information^^

What would the code word 0011 0100 stand for if it is the code for a
fixed-point fraction where the binary point is taken to lie between the
two groups of 4 bits?

what would the code word 0010 0011 stand for if it is the code for a
text character using the same 8-bits ASCII code as in PC?

Hello, we generally do not answer homework questions here, as yours seems to be. I believe you should be able to learn how to do this in class, from your book, or even on Wikipedia. If you post your thought process and your attempt at the problem, you might get a more favorable response. I know how to answer your question, but we encourage everyone to demonstrate what work they have invested in the problem.

Per the LQ Rules, please do not post homework assignments verbatim. We're happy to assist if you have specific questions or have hit a stumbling point, however. Let us know what you've already tried and what references you have used (including class notes, books, and Google searches) and we'll do our best to help. Also, keep in mind that your instructor might also be an LQ member.
