Originally posted by cmckay I've managed to install Kylix 3 on Mandrake 9.0 just fine. As for the license file, you need to put it in $HOMEDIR in order for it to work correctly.
I'm experiencing troubles runnig K3 on my MDK 9.0 although I did all that you stated. Whenever I try to run "startbcb", logo appears and it stucks and all I can do is to restart the OS.
Any solutiond?

I've rebuilt my system a couple of times since I last used Kylix, so I'm going to have to reinstall it before I can give you any heads up as to what I did.
Quick question though, did you attempt to install it as root in the /usr directory or did you attempt to install it in your $HOME directory? I ask because I installed my copy into /usr as root and that seemed to work for me.

I installed it as USER in my /home dir.
Perhaps this is the reason why it is not working.
Maybe I should try to install it as a root?
When you rebuild your system, please tell me what did you do
to make it work.
must agree. got it somewhat working. i can create a project directory now and save the Unit.cpp and Project.bpr in that directory and have the project run. only i can't rename Unit.cpp to something like hello.cpp or the project.pbr to something like hello.bpr. then it won't run and gives a stupid expected error. kylix 3 is totally buggy. if you want to build your executable using CLX it will only run in the c++ ide. if you click the executable icon, it complains that it can't find the libborqt-6.9.0-qt2.3.so file. the help does say that for deployment, if using CLX you need to deploy 3 qt.so files. one of them is libqt.so.2.3.0, another is the libborqt-6.9.0.qt2.3.so, and i can't remember the other. anyway them files are found in the install_directory_path/bin but where in the system do they go, like if you were to deploy your executable? nothing on borlands site. yeah.....
check out deploying kylix CLX program on linux without having kylix installed. what a friggin' pain.
of course, if there's anyone out there that has an easier way to run kylix CLX programs while assuming that the program will deployed on a linux box with kylix not installed is most welcome.
You need to copy this txt file to the home folder of the user that you are trying to use kylix, when i installed i was using the root user so i copied to /root and it works good. Try this!
