recommended GUI toolkit for use with python

What would you recommend as the 'best' GUI toolkit for use with python. Hopefully something easy to learn/use and portable win32<->linux at least.

Both run in Windows and Linux.

wxWindows aka wxWidgets worked great for me when I was messing with Python a year or two back. wxPython is the port.

Yes. I was leaning to wxpython myself. I wondered how the python version of Qt stacks up? And to learn wxwidgets is everything i need to read on the site (wxpython.org). I have searched amazon and bn.com and come up dry with any books on wxwidgets (python or c++..).

The wxWidgets site has pretty thorough documentation; it's targeted mainly for C++ users, but it's applicable to Python as well (and they usually include Python-specific notes where needed). I'd definitely recommend wxPython. I just started using it recently, but if you have a decent programming background it's quite easy to learn as you go.
