Random packet discard

Dear All,

I would like to develop an application which serves as an emulation of the actual links. The theme is to build such module which adds impurity in a communication link in order to emulate actual link.

I have searched the web but didn't find much useful information. I would like to add impurity based on some sort of distribution, such as exponential etc.

Any help, idea, suggestion is welcome.

regards,
Usman

Have a look at ns2

I haven't used this. But I remember reading somewhere that this software can simulate bad networks etc.

Sarin,

Thanks for the response.

The link you told is built in the simulator. I need to emulate the thing not simulate. I have found the following link for packet drop functionality for Kernel. If you know something like this please let me know.
