need help understanding Apache Velocity

Are there any good web tutorials for Apache Velocity and Struts? Right now I am having problems understanding how the .vm templete interacts with Java. I would like to read about it in a book but I can't find any books. Anyone know where I can get a book on this really fast? If anyone could tell me that would be great.

hi. It's been my experience that open source material in the form of books are not normally covered in bookstores. Sure you'll find a section on linux but it is general basic stuff. But i have had trouble finding books on blender, certification, etc. They have a million books on photoshop but none on Gimp. You may have to look on amazon or something similar, although you might have a better chance finding apache books in stores. Other then that try putting "how the .vm templete interacts with Java." into www.google.com or www.google.com/linux if you haven't already. Also for future reference try to be more specific when you make your topic title. "Quick questions" doesn't tell much and you probably won't get much response with one like that.

The standard documentation is good enough to start with. You initialize Velocity, make a new VelocityContext, and set some key-values in the context, and finally object merge a StringWriter with the context. It will replaces all variables with values you set into the context.
Take a look at http://jakarta.apache.org/velocity/user-guide.html and the http://jakarta.apache.org/velocity/developer-guide.html

Although apache's documentations are usually worse, I believe that Velocity's one is great
