Question about drop down menu and Java

I am writng a program that includes drop down menus. I am not sure how to pull the information out of the menu and save it. I am able to do it with textboxes. I think. This is my code for getting info out of textboxes:

((InfoForm)form).getLast();

Is it the same for dropdown menus?
