Qt4: Windowless, floating widget

I have a QGraphicsView which is currently showed inside a QWidget which is inside a QMainWindow. This QWidget is now restricted to live inside the MainWindow. So if the Widget is too large the MainWindow will show scrolls and stuff.

But I want to put the whole Widget outside the MainWindow and let it "float". The MainWindow should still be there, so that I can use it to close the application.

Ideas?
