qt4 designer ampersand on text

Using the desinger tool with Qt 4.5.1 and working on an example from C++ GUI Programming with Qt 4 1st ed.

I type Ca&ncel in the properties editor for the text property on a pushButton widget and it displays "Cancel" on the button with the 'n' underlined. This is what we expect and it works with buttons but it doesn't appear to work with text labels.

I created a text label and set the text property to "&Cell Location:" (per instructions from the book). Instead of displaying "Cell Location:" with the 'C' underlined it is displaying "&Cell Location" as typed in the properties editor.

Is there another property that needs to be set on text labels to make this feature work?
