Python Libraries

I'm just getting into Python, and I'm the type of person that uses commands galore, and then looks it up if there is a problem. Otherwise, I don't learn anything by just following books or tutorials. I need a list of libraries for python I can import to expand the amount of commands I can use. I would like commands that can directly apply to my computer. (i.e. a python script that opens on boot, and uses aptitude to update automatically, etc).

Thanks!
