Programming Jobs

I am far off from getting a B.S in Computer Science, but I was just looking for programming jobs, so when I finish I know what to look for. Where are all the jobs for recently graduated CS majors? All the jobs require between 1-5 years experience to start. What jobs did you get when you first got out of college (to all the B.S holding programmers) and how did you get them (through the school?)???

Thanks
A Slacker

Yeah mainly through the university. mine has a place where all the departments on campus post up jobs. some of my friends do coding for the chemistry and physics department on campus. go to job fairs, if your school has them, and apply for internships. also build up a portfolio of programs that you've done or create some to impress employers. try to make most of it general, but if your going into a specific field make more for that field of work.

post your resume on monster.com and other such sites. what you might look for is some up-start company thats trying to make it. you'll be able to have more input in an up-start company than a corporation. plus their just looking to hire someone interested in what they do so experience wont be taken into as much consideration. it will be a factor yes, but not as much as applying for say Microsoft. and ofcourse if you like the drone style coding just apply at Microsoft or the like.

hope this helps ya out.
