programmatically access copied contents

After copying a text with ctrl+c in KDE, I want to be able to retrieve this text directly in my C++ application (through the KDE API?).

How?

Not sure about kde apis, but you can directly use X11 ICCCM selections.

xclipboard or xcutsel source code may help understanding how to use them.

Seems too lowlevel.

QT's QClipboard can do it.

On my first computer it works fine.

But on my second computer the clip-content won't be updated unless restarting the program.
