problem with js ajax, return code 0

I have been trying to develop and test my own website on my computer but when the onreadystatechange function with a readystate 4 i get status code 0. It's really strange as sometimes I get the more optimistic 200 but more often than not 0. I tried to set it an an invalid url and i get 404 fine. Can anyone tell me whats going on?

No, I can't.

I would try to use a standard js library like jquery or mootools and make the ajax call with that or call the same url non-ajax style. Or take a look at the server access logs...
