Problem Installing Qt...maybe

Im trying to install the free version of Qt for X11 from trolltech.com and everything seemed to go smooth until I typed the 'make' comand. I followed the installation instructions and typed 'make' where I was told to and now my terminal has gone crazy. To me it just looks like the terminal is spitting out paths and comands, I dont know whats going on but its been doing this for over 2 hours. I have a pentium 3 7oomhz and Im using red hat 7.3 the desktop environment is GNOME.

The question I have is can this sort of thing happen when you type the 'make' command? Does this sound normal to anyone? Im pretty new to linux and am not sure whats going on. If I did I could give more details!

thanks
