I have successfully got the make to work, now i am about to get to the testing phase of the usrp.
to complete configuring boost i have to do this step

To enable all components in gnuradio, run:

# ./configure --with-boost=$ /usr/bin/boost --enable-all-components --disable-gcell --disable-gr-gcell --disable-gr-audio-osx --disable-gr-audio-windows --disable-usrp2-firmware



If some components are still missing: Check: System --> Synaptic package manager

o portaudio19-dev
o libjack-dev
o libcomedi-dev
o python-lxml

after i do this step i get this error:

checking for JACK... no
gr-audio-jack requires package jack, not found.
configure: error: Component gr-audio-jack has errors; stopping.
[kjmartin@sst0105530 gnuradio]$


any ideas??

The latter suggest that libjack is not there and the former tells you what to do (install libjack-dev).

Or am I missing something ?

Could it be that libjack != libjack-dev ? You'll often find a runtime and a development package extra amongst other libs.

BTW, this thread is a month old, so I'm not sure if that really makes sense to reply here, but on the other hand it seems at LinuxQuestions it's pretty much standard to "reanimate" older threads

I don't see a month as being old -- sometimes it takes that long to be noticed. Also, there often is helpful advice for one's own problems to after a thread has "seasoned" a while.
