Pitiful BASH Questions

I'm playing around with simple bash scripts.If I don't quote what I want echo to print it won't print which the guides I'm reading state that it should.

I can only open one file,if I run "bash filename" from my home directory. So I can only open the first file I created. Any others state "No such file or directory".

Any Ideas on this? Thanks in advance!

I think it's a permission issue. Should be at least 700.

File will now open : Other problem remains.

I deleted the file and remade it and now it opens. I don't understand how ,what I would think is the most important application in Linux is as reliable as Firefox. Yes two birds with one stone. I thought it was just Mandriva but Fedora's BASH is lousy as well.

Echo will only work with double quotes. Never mind. The piece of junk works now. Thanks for the reply and all that have veiwed!

I have found what appears to be a decent BASH Tutorial if anyone is interested. It is clearly written and discusses the important topics.http://linuxreviews.org/beginner/Bas...TO/en/x67.html

Hey KB

Just to confirm, you are saying that out of the following 3 entries, only the last will execute on your machine?
Code:
#!/bin/bash

echo these are words
echo 'and so are these'
echo "only these ones show"
On my 2 machines all 3 lines appear as I would expect.
