http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/faq.php

check that...and maybe disable the guest account if there is one (never used this before)...but supposedly you can make it so users have to 'login' first.

yaaa
i already checked the faq
its geared more towards users

i realize that if i go to the admin cp > permissions
i can change the permissions of allowed users for individual forums

im looking for a way to make the change globally
sry -- i was unclear about that

...i checked through their docs ...and found *NOTHING* ...there's got to be a way though. it would be utterly ignorant if there wasn't.

have you posted on their site board? perhaps someone over there can answer your question ...i'm sure many people have done this before. it seems stupid that this *feature* would even be 'turned on' by default.

I'm sure you could make it the default by just hacking the code a bit.

you dont have to hack the code, it's in the Admin panel. you have to disable it for EVERY forum u create. i had this software running but refomatted to install Gentoo and i dont have it setup anymore but log in as the admin and edit each individual form's properties to turn it off. forgot exactly where, you'll find it. i found it and didnt need any docs to do so.

you'll see something like "who can post" and you want "Registered" or something like that, i forgot, but it's there.
