I am looking for a php script that will random display a string of text/digits that the user must enter correcty befor ebeing allowed to proceed - ne ideas?

Have a look at the random function.

http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.rand.php has some examples that might do what you want; I think that the post from PHP-expert on 19-jul-2006 will do the trick
