I know this isn't necessarily the right place to ask a php question, but I'm just getting started with PHP and frankly I'm more at home here at linuxquestions.org than anywhere else so I thought I'd ask here first.
As I said I'm new to PHP so I'm not familiar with common libraries etc. I'm building a web app which will have teams of users (with varying permissions) using the system simultaneously. To manage these users I'm looking for some flexible authentication package. My only real requirement is that the package should be as flexible as possible when connecting to a backing store which contains usernames / passwords; i.e. it should be able to use rdbms, ldap, etc.
So far I've stumbled upon:
http://phplib.sourceforge.net
and
http://sourceforge.net/projects/auth
Again, I'm not familiar with common PHP practice so if there are any seasoned vets out there who could suggest a good way to manage the users I would greatly appreciate it.
thanks,
