perl upgrade

hi,
I recently upgraded perl to 5.8.7. The instalaltion went fine, but now perl cannot find the modules. Its a local server and is using WHM/CPANEL
for e.g. perl cannot find DBI.pm even though DBI and DBI and DBI::MySQL is installed.
I noticed befire the upgrade the @INC was

perl -e 'print @INC;'

/usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi
/usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl
/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi
/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl
/usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi/usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0

and after install

/usr/local/lib/perl5/5.8.7/i686-linux/usr/local/lib/perl5/5.8.7
/usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.7/i686-linux
/usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.7/usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl

the DBI.pm is at one of that /usr/lib locations.
Now how do i change the @INC, or should i reconfigure it with some parameters . I used the defaults when compiling. Thanks my first time.

seems like the default installed all in /usr/local/lib where as earlier installation was in /usr/lib

may be reinstalling perl in /usr/lib may help
