Hi All,

Thanks a lot for the information. Just wanted to tell you that I run in to problems when I try to untar the directory that is being tarred by the script. Please note that I created a file called "file.txt" on testdir2. Following is the script.

my @FILEPATH = qw(/highway/cibcsp2/vimuth/testdir1/testdir2);
print "@FILEPATH\n";
system("tar -cvvf test.tar @FILEPATH");

cibcsp2@stac1:/highway/cibcsp2/vimuth/jjjjj>ls
test.tar

cibcsp2@stac1:/highway/cibcsp2/vimuth/jjjjj>tar xvf test.tar
tar: blocksize = 5
x /highway/cibcsp2/vimuth/testdir1/testdir2, 0 bytes, 0 tape blocks
x /highway/cibcsp2/vimuth/testdir1/testdir2/file.txt, 508 bytes, 1 tape blocks

cibcsp2@stac1:/highway/cibcsp2/vimuth/jjjjj>ls -ltr
total 6
-rw-r--r-- 1 cibcsp2 dba 2560 Feb 13 16:35 test.tar

cibcsp2@stac1:/highway/cibcsp2/vimuth/jjjjj>

As you could see it is not getting untarred. Please advice as to what Im missing around here. Thank you very much.
