Perform low level format of a floppy disk in C

Can ne 1 explain how to perform a low level format on a floppy disk ?? in Linux ...Using C language .. not mkfsdos...

using C...
open /dev/fd0
write zeros or junk into it till eof

there is another way with ioctl, you'd have to look that up elsewhere.

That will just fill the disk up with rubbish, not format it. (Assuming by "format" you mean "put a file system on").

Ya i want to create fat 12 on the floppy after performing a low level format ..

so is your question about low level format or making a file system?

If you haven't done so already, look up "fdformat"
