Output question for C code

When executing an example code I was told to use "<file_name> -d <some value> <another value>". When using the "-d" it makes the program display a bunch of outputs that are not shown when executing the program without the "-d" what does it stand for and is there a place to look up more options like this.

Thank you for any help.

There is no standard usage of commandline arguments (there are a few common conventions, I suppose) that would definitively say that the '-d' option always does 'blort'. The use of '-d' was chosen by the programmer, and may have some kind of syntactic meaning to him/her. The best way to understand what it does would be to read the C code. Failing that, read the documentation for the program.

Probably stands for 'debug'.
