ODBC sql.h question

I'm trying to test a piece of code out of a book, and I have hard coded the path to the header file. But when I :

g++ -o odbctest odbctest.cpp

I get :
In file included from /opt/sapdb/indep_prog/incl/sql.h:55,
from odbctest.cpp:5:
/opt/sapdb/indep_prog/incl/sqltypes.h:318: error: 'DWORD' is used as a type,
but is not defined as a type.
/opt/sapdb/indep_prog/incl/sqltypes.h:319: error: 'WORD' is used as a type, but
is not defined as a type.
/opt/sapdb/indep_prog/incl/sqltypes.h:320: error: 'WORD' is used as a type, but
is not defined as a type.
/opt/sapdb/indep_prog/incl/sqltypes.h:321: error: parse error before `[' token

so where should the dependency be to resolve this?

Thanks
