Cool New To Programming.

Hi Guys,

I want to learn programming. Many people suggested I start learning Python and then move to more complicated Languages.
Any suggestions? Also, what good book can I purchase to star learning programming? I have 0 experience other than some QBasic when I was 10 years old.
Thanks.

Learning programing is boring. Better start with a better question: what do you want to program? After all, the choice of language to learn is often based upon what you intend to do with the language.

Python is a good approach for programming newcomers, is easy and very powerful... there are free books for python including dive into python, and there is a blog, which i dont recall the address, that posts 15 exercises to learn programming.

You could google for 15 exercises to learn programming... also try bash scripting which will come handy later.

I don't want to build a complex program or anything like that however I want to have some Programming knowledge and maybe build a small program. My real interest is to work in Systems Security and I know a few guys on that field and they all know some programming. I think Bash programming it is a good way to start as well.
Thanks for your quick response.
