Need Help with tags! G++ 4.4.1?

The versions whatever came with the Debian 6.0.3 install CD.
I have been so used to my IDE handling tags that I Really need help!
Here the things I use often:
Make non-WIN32 DLLs
Link static libs
Use resource files
Add non-code files (normally icons)
Please give me an easy to read (not size 2 font) tutorial and help me find official documentation, as much as I like GCC their site is rather hard to navagate.

Exuberant Ctags is great with vim.

cd /path/to/project
ctags -R .
vim
# set tags=./tags

Or, if you want a full blown IDE, you could try Eclipse with C++ support
