ODBC
Eppo,
I have been able to get an effective ODBC connection on a Vista system to communicate with a MySQL DB on a linux instal (Ubuntu).
You need to ensure you are able to 'see' the DBserver and have the my.ini set correctly to allow connections from other server (or it won't work). I don't have the docs to hand, and I can't remember the line you need to edit / add to the my.ini off hand.
Also the other thing to try, to confirm you can access the MySQL DB, is to install MySQL Query browser. This will not require an ODBC to connect to the DB.
If you have MySQL Query Browser installed and you still can't connect you may have an issue with your user setup.
MySQL has a similar way of thinking as linux regarding user names and permissions. You then need to add in the added complication of needing to give a user the permission to access the DB from somewhere that isn't the local machine.
the above should lead you in the direction of solving your problems...If you continue to have struggle however drop a message back to the forum.
