mysql and ntfs

I have my SQL database on a ntfs hd. Now i want to manipulate it, using a linux system, over LAN.

I'm gonna try this next week, i just wanted to know if anyone had tried this before.

I an very new at linux, and would like to know how much integration between windows and linux is possible . can linux write safely to a ntfs partition ?

I am gonna install slackware 10 if that helps. I bet im gonna gave lots of questionas about that too.

linux has very little ntfs write support right now: you can only overwrite a file with data but without changing the size. you can't create, delete, .... files yet.

darn, so i guess ill have to write a php script and publish it in order to make the changes.
