Looking for a standard way to measure CPU usage.

I am looking for a general or standard way of measuring CPU usages or MIPS of my application so that I can use to compare with other application that perform the same task. If anyone know how to measure a memory usage peak during the run-time of my application, i would also appreciate you help.

Use gnome-system-monitor for GNOME (can be found in the "system" menu as well). There you can see the very same CPU usage information like with ksysguard.

With my distribution, I don't need to go to the webpage. If you want to install it, perhaps it's better to check your distro repos (I do that with every program).
