Linux / Unix console programming with Python

So I have decided to pickup python as my new language of choice. (Well I really don't have a true language that I know really well so python will be that language). One thing that I am looking to do is create a few projects that will all be command line oriented. However I am looking for more control on the command line display. Kind of like what you see with mostly command line linux installers.

Can someone recommend one or two libraries that I can import that will help give me better control? And also point me to a good tutorial on how to use it?

Currently I am looking into ncurses but I can't really find any good tutorials on it. If anyone know of any good books on ncurses I will settle for that one.

maybe you should clarify exactly what you like to see as output when you run the program. You talking about progress bars those kind of stuffs? better control? of what??

as for ncurses , if you search google using "Python ncurses" keyword, you can find some tutorials. also check out the python docs and this short guide

Yeah I just found alot of ncurses stuff. Looks like I am going to go with that. And when I say control I mean not having the application have input one line at a time but instead have it be laid out with all options on the screen. good examples again would be like text based linux installers, programs like smit for AIX.
