library linked twice

Hi All,

I am installing a software (from source) which has lots of files which need to be compiled and linked. The problem is that some of the files are being linked against library X twice. I found this out by first getting an error that library X was not found. i did an "ldd" and found that the library was listed twice! It was correctly found in one instance but the second time it was not found. I assume the reason why it wasnt found the first time is that when it was found the first time, it got locked somehow?

anyway, does anyone have any idea how to fix this i.e., how to prevent it from being linked twice?

thx

Take a look at /etc/ld.so.conf and see if any libraries are listed twice. If they are then try editing /etc/ld.so.conf so that the link libraries are only listed once each. Then reboot and see if the problem disappears.
