kdevelop add folder and add new class is slow

I have a reasonably large scale project with a hundred+ files. Each time I make a new folder or add a new class, it takes about 8-10 seconds to give me back control... something about scanning project files.

I have a p3 733, 256 RAM computer. Is there some setting that I have wrong or is my computer just way too slow (probably)? Is this something I can fix by getting my computer a second 733 chip (which i can - its a dual processor machine that only has one cpu right now).

Thanks.
